There are some spots on the main lake with school fish popping up biting a fluke, pop r and a rattletrap. Toledo Bend Reservoir is a good example that confirms this rule. This 181,000-acre reservoir along the Louisiana border is the biggest lake in Texas, and arguably the best place to catch giant ‘gills. As soon as the largemouth bass spawn starts to wind down, the bluegill spawn kicks into high gear. Fish populations in Caddo Lake (Texas side only) were surveyed in 2009 using electrofishing and trap netting and in 2010 using gill netting. An angler creel survey was conducted from June 2009 through May 2010.
