There are apple wallet pass apps in the App Store that allow you to duplicate the QR code from the number in the official planet fitness app. I think call pass4wallet. I’ve been using it without a hitch for years. Alternatively, I’ve taken a screenshot of the QR code from the official app and used that. Then take a screenshot of the QR code you use to check-in. It will make checking in faster. Also, for some reason the app isn't working for me at the moment, so I'm glad I did this ahead of time.
