Jan 19, 2020 · The conversion/update works perfectly and the changeout was simple: loosen the set screw in the old wad guide bracket, loosen the locking screw at the yoke on the bottom, remove the two circlips in the middle of the rod. Tilt the powder and shot bottles and remove the drop tubes. Slide the carrier up until the crimp tool contacts the base of the shotshell. Pull the handle of the MEC jr down until the crimp is complete. Remove the shotshell from the MEC jr. As your loader comes from the factory the adjustment should be correct for most shells. I am trying to load 16 ga on a Mec 600 JR. The shot loading is not working as it should. I am using #6 shot, 1 1/8 oz. The charge bar does not slide easily to the right to drop the shot. It has to be forced. Also the shot does not alway drop completly into the hull.
