You could send your familiar with a elixir/curative to another party member to administer it, load crossbows (or bombs and ammo into the Alchemical Crossbow ), all while still providing those sweet extra reagents. Alchemist has high intelligence but investigator gets way more skill feats. I'm the investigator in my party and I juggle through dishing out good damage and spamming recall knowledge on basically anything. Sometimes I heal too. They're different and you should focus on each playstyle and find what you prefer. The Alchemist has some exceptions compared to the other classes in PF2: - it's Key Ability Score isn't used for its offensive actions. It doesn't use INT to attack so that is a pitfall for class effectiveness. On a creature that isn't resistant/immune to poison, at level 10, you can spend 1 infused reagent for a 2A attack that deals 2d6+7 direct damage, and a further 2d4+7 persistent. Double Slice also allows you to attack twice with minimal penalty. Hitting twice per round is a big deal for a class that has a weak attack bonus like the Alchemist.
