Sounds like it coming from oil filter location. it does not do it all the time, just kinda comes and goes. I used 10 qts of Rotella T and a ACDelco filter. I have a knocking noise upon deceleration on my 2017 duramax Silverado.. It happens between 1600-1100 rpm. As I decelerate between this range, it will start to knock at around 1600 then go away at around 1500 then start again around 1400 and stop at around 1200 and a third time at 1100. It sounds like a lifter smacking the camshaft.Rod knocks, sticky or bad lifters, faulty glow plugs, lousy fuel injectors, old engine parts, and low or dirty engine oil — causing lack of lubrication are the common causes of ticking noise from a diesel engine.
